Getting Around

Helsinki is compact and easy to navigate. The city has an excellent public transport system operated by HSL, including trams, buses, metro, and local trains. We recommend purchasing a day ticket via the HSL app or from ticket machines – it allows unlimited travel across zones during its validity period. Most venues are reachable within a short ride or walk.

Taxis are widely available, and city bikes or electric scooters are also popular for short distances.

From the Airport to the City Center

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) is well-connected to the city center. The train (I or P line) provides a quick and comfortable ride to the city in about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a bus or taxi. The journey by taxi takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

From the Harbors to the City Center

Helsinki’s main harbor, the South Harbor, is only a short distance from the city center. If arriving by ferry, you can easily walk to many key attractions. There are also buses and trams available from the harbor to further destinations. The West Harbor and Olympia Terminal are similarly well-connected to the city center by local transportation.
